About
George Allen is an architectural designer and illustrator based in London.
Since graduating from the Royal College of Art and Sheffield School of Architecture, George has worked at Haworth Tompkins Architects and Hawkins Brown Architects in London, before working abroad for three years at Limbrock Tubbesing Architekten in Hamburg.
Alongside architectural practice George draws frequently, taking varied commissions from architectural offices and private clients. His drawings have been exhibited at the RA Summer Show as well as the RIBA and have been sold for up to ten thousand pounds. Informed by artists such as William Heath Robinson and Nigel Peake, George’s work is underpinned by traditional media and a freehand drawing technique.
The research and design which supported George’s master’s thesis, culminating in a series of prototypical educational typologies, continues to inform his approach to architectural design. Over the past three years he has designed several typologically diverse timber construction kindergartens, each responding coherently with its immediate context while physically expressing play through design.
