About

George Allen is an architect and illustrator based in London.

Since graduating from the Royal College of Art and Sheffield School of Architecture, George completed his professional qualification in architecture at the University of Cambridge and now works as an architect at Haworth Tompkins in London. George has previously worked at Hawkins Brown in London and Limbrock Tubbessing Architekten in Hamburg, where he lived for three years.

Alongside architectural practice George draws frequently, taking varied commissions from architectural offices and private clients. His drawings have been exhibited at the RA Summer Show as well as the RIBA and have been sold for up to ten thousand pounds. Informed by artists such as William Heath Robinson and Nigel Peake, George’s work is underpinned by traditional media and  freehand drawing.

The research and design which supported George’s master’s thesis, culminating in a series of prototypical educational typologies, continues to inform his approach to architectural design. George’s work in practice has focused on timber construction kindergartens in Hamburg and predominantly residential schemes in London.
